About this video
Hey
guys, it’s Jay back again—the Canadian carnivore dad, single dad of two
little guys, ADHD brain, side‑hustle life, and absolutely zero interest
in selling you a course. I’m not here to pitch you anything. I’m here
to share how I went from almost 350 lbs, winter depression, 12 cans of
pop a day, and junk‑food survival mode… to eating clean, tracking my
numbers, and eventually finding my own version of carnivore that
actually worked for my brain and my body.

In this video I tell the full backstory: how I slid into a bad place over
the winter, put on nearly 100 lbs in three months, and felt completely
stuck in depression, ADHD fog, and survival mode as a single dad. I
wasn’t eating huge plates of food, but I was drowning my day in pop,
sauces, and little hidden calories that stacked way past my base
metabolic rate. Once I started keto and then moved toward carnivore, I
finally looked at labels and realized how insane my sugar and calorie
intake actually was.
I explain base metabolic rate (BMR) in simple terms—what your body burns
at rest when you’re just sitting watching movies or gaming—and how
eating above that while moving very little guarantees weight gain.
Instead of buying a $300 fancy device, I grabbed my old Renpho smart
scale (about 40–50 bucks) and started tracking weight, body metrics, and
progress through the app. From there I began tracking macros and
calories so I could reliably stay under my BMR unless I was actually
training or stacking serious steps.
You’ll hear how I eased into this: I didn’t say “I’m carnivore forever” on day
one. I told my son I’d just eat clean for a week. Then I cut out pop.
Then sauces. Then breads. One thing at a time. As more junk left my
diet, my mood, sleep, ADHD, and anxiety kept improving—and eventually
that path landed me on carnivore without me even planning it.
I also share my favorite simplicity hack: the cutting board. One board,
one surface, minimal dishes, easy meals. It sounds stupid, but it
removes so much friction that it’s way easier to stay consistent. On top
of that, I talk about different “flavors” of carnivore (strict
meat‑only vs eggs, dairy, butter, etc.), how I found my own sweet spot,
and how I’ve averaged around 3.5 lbs per week without wrecking my skin
or muscle.
If you’re a busy parent, ADHD, dealing with depression, or just sick of
being sold courses and miracle fixes, this video is for you. It’s just
me sharing what’s actually worked: track your numbers, remove one
problem food at a time, keep things simple, and be brutally honest with
yourself.
