About this video

Hey guys, it’s Jay, the Canadian carnivore dad. In this video I sit down
with my buddy Sal to break down exactly how I use a smart scale app and
food tracking to stay consistent on my carnivore journey. We talk about
my daily calorie targets, basal metabolic rate, hidden exercise from
everyday chores, and why I see this as a life-changing experience—not
just another “diet.”

i track my weight and body metrics with an affordable smart scale app
instead of expensive gear, and it’s been a total lifesaver for staying
accountable. My main focus each day is simple: keep my calories under my
target (around 1,500) while my basal metabolic rate sits near 1,900,
which usually puts me in about a 900-calorie deficit. On top of that, I
log my meals in the Lose It food tracking app so I always know where I’m
at.

The biggest key for me is mindset: I don’t say “I’m doing this for a year,”
I just say “I’m doing this today… and tomorrow.” Every day is a new
chance to guide yourself in a better direction, and small habits like
tracking, walking, and moving more start to become second nature.

I also share how regular daily chores—like going up and down the stairs
to the laundry room, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping—secretly rack up
steps and burn calories without feeling like a workout. When you’re
stuck in a sedentary, carb-heavy lifestyle, your body and brain get so
used to doing nothing that you don’t even realize how much it’s dragging
down your energy and mental clarity.

If you’re into carnivore, keto, or just trying to get healthier and build
better habits, this video will give you some real-world, unscripted
ideas on how to track your progress without overcomplicating it.
